The Pennington Hot Air Balloon Championships will celebrate its sixth year with what is one of the most memorable partnerships with BREC to date. The event will take place on August 8 and 9 from 3:00pm-10:00pm, and August 10 from 3:00pm-6:00pm.

BREC's Children's Village has expanded to include a host of activities, artists, food, and fun for the entire family. Some of the free activities include: pony rides, rock wall, water slides/inflatables, face painting, arts and crafts, and much more.

Accompanying this annual event will be the Up, Up and Away 3.2K Fun Run and the 1/2 mile Kids Fun Run on Saturday, August 9 at 7 a.m. This family oriented run/walk is on a two-mile course that begins at the eastern entrance of the Pennington Biomedical facility and takes contestants through the grounds, around the lake and to Quail Drive on southern end of the property before returning back to the eastern entrance. While running the race, runners will enjoy the beautiful view of the Hot Air Balloons taking off in flight. T-Shirts will be given to all participants at the event check-in station. The cost of the race is $10 for pre-registration (before Friday, July 27) or $15 on day of race.
